Thanksgiving NFL Predictions for Thursday, November 27

What is it about Thanksgiving Day NFL games that makes me think of really bad football? Oh, right, it is because the Detroit Lions always play. They’ve lost their last four Turkey Day games by an average of 20 points, a number I expect to stay about the same after they take on the 10-1 and probably slightly pissed off Tennessee Titans at 12:30 pm EST.

The Titans, who lost their first game of the season last week to the super-hot New York Jets, will be looking to stomp down on (sorry, Albert Hainsworth, no pun intended) the league’s worst and most dysfunctional franchise. The Lions, for their part, are still on that lonely road to the history books that will come with a perfect season…without a win, that is.

Funny we don’t hear about how the members of the ‘76 Buccaneers watch each week, waiting for the last undefeated NFL team to win so they can pop corks and bask in the glory of being the only team to lose every game in a season.

The Yardstick at FanYard for the Titans at Lions game predicts a 14-point Titans win, and not one person has been silly enough so far to take the Lions to win this game. Check it out, and add your pick to the only fan-generated spread.

The second game tomorrow features (to use that word lightly) the Seahawks at Cowboys. With the Cowboys starting to get their mojo back and the Sh*@hawks playing some of the worst football in the NFC West, no one in their right minds is predicting Seattle will win this road game. The Yardstick picks a 12-point Dallas win.

Seattle fans have a good grip on their team's chances.

The night game is the one I am most looking forward to. How will Donavan McNabb react to being the starter again in Philly after being yanked for the first time in his career last week in a huge and embarrassing loss to the Ravens for the Eagles, their players and especially their coach (a term used only for lack of another to use) Andy Reid?

This matchup of the Cardinals at Eagles is going to feature one NFL bird falling ungracefully out of the powersphere, while the other is soaring higher than it has in years.

While McNabb’s career seems to be crashing before our eyes, Kurt Warner’s rise from the ashes in the desert is giving Cardinals fans visions of Messianic proportions. Like a Jim Morrison peyote trip, what remains to be seen for the desert faithful is whether or not there is any basis in reality for this sudden high, or if it will all just feel like a bad hangover in another month.

Will MVP-candidate Warner be the Rocky to the Eagles' season? Philly fans find fighting fun, frightening.

Just over six of every ten FanYard members are picking the Cards to win this game tomorrow, but the Yardstick predicts just a three-point road win.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
