Edmonton Eskimos at Montreal Alouettes

Edmonton Eskimos at Montreal Alouettes

This Thursday, July 9, both the Edmonton Eskimos and the Montreal Alouettes will attempt to become the first teams of the 2009 CFL season the start off 2-0. Both Edmonton and Montreal provided highlight reel plays in Week One as they conquered the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Calgary Stampeders, respectively.

The early Yardstick, favoring Montreal by nine, shows that no one thinks the Eskimos can pull off a road win against last season’s Grey Cup losers. Sportsbook lines have the the point spread at minus-seven for the home team also.

Edmonton certainly will have a tougher time with Jesse Lumsden out for the third CFL season in a row with another shouder injury. Not to mention, losing the Grey Cup to Calgary in their last home game still leaves a bad taste in the mouths of Alouettes players.

Eskimos QB Ricky Ray hopes the Alouttes don't piss, I mean pick, him off on Thursday night.

I don’t think its going to be a pretty game, and Montreal should send the Eskimos packing pretty easily. I mean, beating the Blue Bombers isn’t exactly a feat these days, but taking down the defending champion Stampeders in Calgary would get anyone pumped for the season. Pretty much all Montreal will have to do is shut down Eskimo QB Ricky Ray anyways, if the Esks can’t find a way to generate more than the 33 ground yards they managed against Winnepeg.

My Prediction: 42-17 Montreal
